Walnut St. 919-735-2770 Goldsboro, NC 27533-1453 Re: Neuse River Riparian Buffer Confirmation Trailwood / Melvin Wells Property Nahunta, Wayne County UT to Nahunta Swamp [03-04-07; 27-86-14; C Sw NSW] Dear Mr. Price, On August 1, 2000, I met with personnel from your department at the subject property consisting of approximately 12 acres located on south of Nahunta Road (SR1336) approximately V2 miles west of the intersection of Nahunta Road and NC Hwy 581, Nahunta, Wayne County. The purpose of this meeting was to determine the applicability of a stream feature located on the property to the Neuse River Riparian Buffer Protection Regulations (15A NCAC 2B .0233). As a result of this meeting it was determined that the stream feature indicated on the attached USDA Soil Survey map for Wayne County initialed by me on 8/1/00 is subject to the 15A NCAC 2B .0233 buffer requirements starting at a point approximately 8 feet north of the proposed Lot # 4 northeast property corner as indicated on the attached site plan initialed by me on 8/1/00. The feature is believed to be a modified natural stream subject to the buffer requirements downstream from this point and an agricultural ditch not subject to the buffer requirements upstream of this point. This office recommends that the identified start point and associated 50-foot protected buffers be properly located to ensure compliance with 15A NCAC 2B .0233. This letter only addresses the applicability of 15A NCAC 2B .0233(3) and does not authorize any activity within the protected buffers.
