Engineering • Archit jt C Land S? rveying September 9, 1999 Mr. John Dorney North Carolina Division of Water Quality 4401 Reedy Creek Road Raleigh, NC 27607 Re: Preconstruction Notification Application Mallard Creek Development Siphon Replacement of Aerial Sewer Crossing Graham, North Carolina Dear John: REPLY TO: I On behalf of the City of Graham, we are enclosing seven (7) copies of the preconstruction notific tion application along with attached drawings (8.5" x 11 ") of the proposed sewer siphon replacement. We seek your approval of this crossing of Great Alamance Creek. This work is necessary as it will replace an aerial sewer crossing which was previously damaged y Hurricane Fran. Repairs made to the crossing have also been damaged beyond repair by subsequent rainfall events. The crossing no longer exists except for remaining concrete piers and footings. At this time the City umps and hauls the wastewater daily. It is our hope that an early review and approval will help the City get back to normal operations sooner. It is our opinion that this proposed siphon will offer the City a permanent solution to this problem We anticipate land disturbance to be limited to removing the existing concrete piers and footings and he installation of the proposed siphon. The Permits and Engineering Unit of the Division of Water Quality have this project under revie . In addition, Ron Linville at FEMA representatives have visited the site and are fully aware of what has been p r posed to solve the current problem. If you have any questions regarding this project, please do not hesitate to give me a call. Your assistance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
