Stormwater flows directly to our creeks, streams, and rivers untreated, so everything that goes down a storm drain eventually ends up in our drinking water supply. Also, leaves, grass clippings, and other yard debris can easily clog our storm drains and pipes, resulting in property flooding, dangerous driving conditions, and other related problems. Everyone is asked to leave all of these materials at the back of the curb for pick up, either bagged or un-bagged, thereby lessening the chance of them ending up in the storm drain system. To give greater attention to the relationship between what goes down our storm drains and what ultimately ends up in our water supply, the Town's Public Works Department is currently working on a project to label all of our storm drains, noting that they are a part of a direct route to the river. We encourage everyone to help prevent future stormwater problems by keeping materials out of the storm drains.
