Listed below are comments provided by DWR on November 11, 2019 regarding the Dairyland
Stream Mitigation Site: Year 1 Monitoring Report and RES' responses.
1. DWR would prefer that veg monitoring not take place until mid -late September for year 1
and 2.
Noted.
2. In the future where reaches are suspected to lose flow, DWR expects the stream gauges
to be installed by the end of the As -Built. Failure to do so may require and extra year of
flow monitoring.
Per the approved Mitigation Plan, bankfull events, not flow days, were to be reported on
project reaches. This is why RES did not think it was an issue that HOBOs were installed
quickly after as -built. If DWR would like flow to be reported as well, RES can report it in
future monitoring years.
3. Are you using the CVS data entry tool?
Yes.
4. Cross sections 10 and 11 look somewhat dry and contain some large stone, has there
been an issue with flow on this reach.
Cross sections 10 and 11 are located in the repair area on UT-2, where large stone was
used to stabilize structures. The repair is described in Section 1.6 of the MY1 Report.
There has not been an issue with flow on this reach however, RES can report flow from
the Stage Recorder on UT-2.
5. Are you seeing flow in pond bottoms?
Yes.
6. Have you touched base with landowner regarding encroachments?
Yes. RES also plans to install t-posts with horse tape strung up to provide a physical
barrier in the encroachment areas.
