Jay Zimmerman P.G., Chief Water Quality Regional Operations Section Raleigh Regional Office Division of Water Resources, NCDEQ Re: Notice of Violation: NOV-2019-LV-0864 -- ,JCGd' Mr. Zimmerman, This letter is our response to the Notice of Violation issued to Carolina Trace WWTP on November 15, 2019. This violation referenced the Nitrogen, Ammonia Total monthly average exceeded for September 2019. The permitted limit for this parameter is 2 mg/l and our monthly average was only slightly above at 2.64 mg/l. These exceedances occurred during our preparation for Hurricane Dorian. It was during this three day stretch, September 10, 11, and 12, that the results were highest because we were actively increasing our wasting process. This procedure was done to decrease the risk of losing solids and discharging them via the effluent which we believed could have had serious impact on the receiving stream. We were not aware of the increased levels of Total Ammonia Nitrogen until after receiving the results from the lab, and immediate corrective action was done upon notification.
