Stormwater Management Plan (SMP) Modification
Dear Mr. Rainer,
On October 27, 2009, the Division of Water Quality DWQ received your application from Mr. Michael
Ranks, PE, requesting a modification of a stormwater Best Management Practices device which was
previously approved in a 401 Water Quality Certification issued on December 5, 2007 for the subject
project in Wake County. Please provide the following information so that we may continue to review
your project and prevent return of your application as required by 15A NCAC 2H.0506:
Additional Information Requested
1. Planting Plan (Sheet 2):
a. Shelf planting diagram - Please separate the shelf planting diagram into two areas: 5ft
shallow land (woolgrass, cardinal flower, and switchgrass) and 15 ft shallow water
(remaining plants).
b. Emergent planting list - Please separate this table into a shallow land table and a shallow
water table.
c. Cross-section of perimeter planting shelf - Please show additional topsoil fill by extending
the fill slope out to the end of the 5 ft deep pool planting area.
d. General notes: In note #6, please remove the "as an alternate" language and begin with
"Topsoil will be hauled......" as we discussed today and also during the site visit meeting.
2. Supplement Form:
a. Please change the design discharge from 1.49 cfs to 1.64 cfs to reflect what is indicated in the
flow calculations for the dewatering pipe. Make a note on the Supplement Form to explain
how the flow was obtained since it does not represent a post-development 10-yr peak flow.
