All industrial activity is conducted under roof and all drains from the work area convey wastewater to a small pretreatment facility for treatment prior to disposal to the Salisbury -Rowan Utilities Regional WWTP (NC0023884). RWBT, Inc. is permitted to discharge to the Salisbury -Rowan Utilities collection system by Industrial User Permit No.0028. Stormwater sheet flows from the parking areas and grassed surfaces. One stormwater drain is located near water tanks (clean tankers used for groundwater storage). There are no other storm drains on the site in the work area. A wastewater pump station is located near the tank pressure testing facility. The pump station is constructed so that in the event of a pump malfunction, wastewater will overflow inside the industrial containment area. A wastewater holding tank is also located outside the industrial area. In order to obtain a No Exposure Certification, the facility must complete the following conditions: 1. The wastewater holding tank must have containment sufficient to hold the contents of the tank. It is recommended that the containment structure also include the pump station. 2. No washdown of the pavement can be directed to the storm drain. All water used in washing down the pavement in front of the shop area must be conveyed to the wastewater treatment system. 3. All scrap metal and other stored materials must be stored under cover such as a roof, closed container, or tarp. In addition, the exclusion from NPDES permitting is available on a facility -wide basis only —not for individual outfalls. If any industrial activities or materials are, or will be, exposed to precipitation, the facility is not eligible for the no exposure exclusion. The Regional Office may inspect your facility for compliance with no exposure conditions prior to that approval. Our operation consists of a shop/wash facility that is under one roof. We do maintenance and exterior washes on Class 8 tractors and tanker trailers. All activities involving these processes are done under the roof of this facility and drains in both areas are contained so that all industrial materials and activities are protected by storm resistant shelter to prevent exposure to rain, snow, snowmelt, and/or runoff. Our processes also include the treatment of our wash water through an oil/water separator system that is regulated and permitted by the City of Salisbury. This treatment includes any industrial material that is deposited into the contained drains from both the shop and wash areas.
