Schulz November 8, 2019 Page 2 of 2 A. Application: 1. In application item IV.6 of the WWIS 06-16 form, you list the wastewater flow as 10,000 gallons per day (GPD), but the previous permit issued April 15, 2019 had a permitted flow of 5,000 GPD. The flow listed in this field should be the permitted flow. Please explain this discrepancy, and indicate whether or not you are requesting that the permitted flow of this permit be increased. B. Power Reliability Plan: In application item V.5. of the WWIS 06-16 form, you did not indicate how power reliability will be provided. According to 15A NCAC 02T .0305(h)(1)(B), a standby power source or pump shall be required at all pump stations except for simplex pump stations, and controls shall be provided to automatically activate the standby source and signal an alarm condition. The Power Riser Diagram on page E-501 of the engineering plans indicates that there is an existing generator with an existing automatic transfer switch, but the location of this generator is not given and the generator was not listed in any previous facility description for this permit. Please answer the following: a. Provide the technical specifications of the existing generator. b. Provide the locations of the existing generator and automatic transfer switch. c. Describe the operation of the generator and automatic transfer switch. This explanation should provide the controller settings in the case of power failure, and provide a list of all the connections that use the generator as an auxiliary power source. Please note that the operation of this generator should meet the requirements of 15A NCAC 02T .0305(h)(1)(B) listed above. 2. According to 15A NCAC 02T .0305(h)(1)(E)-(F), all pump stations designed for two pumps or more shall have a telemetry system to provide remote notification of a problem condition, including power failure and high water alarm. Alarms on site should be both audio and visual. Please verify that these conditions are met for the specified pump station.
