Daniel,
I'll handle this one. Joanne has Pender, Carteret, & Onslow counties. I'm going to be in the field for most of today, so I'll
get back to you when I can. Has a paper copy of this request been forwarded through our Raleigh central office (Cyndi
Karoly)?
Thanks!

Hello all, Mr Walker would like to extend the NCWRC dredging request by 230 linear feet. This permit has not been
issued yet, so DCM will put this on hold until additional comments are received. Please see below email and attached
information and let me know your agencies comments regarding this modification to the original Major Permit
application. Let me know if this email will suffice or if a hard copy is needed. Thanks Daniel

Mr. Govoni,
As discussed today, the NC Wildlife Resources Commission is interested in extending the extents of the dredge area
within Buzzards BayP'The Basin" by approximately 230 linear feet. This modification is the result of public feedback that
has been received regarding the historical channel dredging at this site.
The complaint by boaters and fishermen has been that the dredge area does not extend far enough into the basin. This
complaint was discussed at the regulatory scoping meeting held at NCDENR Wilmington office on March 11, 2009, where
it was referred to by some as the "speed bump" in the navigation channel. WRC decided it worthy to further investigate
the issue, and so in May 2009 additional hydrographic survey data was obtained. It was then determined that by
extending the dredge area along the same alignment by an additional 230 ft., boaters would be provided a minimum of 1.5
depth at Normal Low Water to access the surrounding waters.
Please find attached a revised Sheet C3, which demonstrates this modification to the original permit request. The channel
dredging will remain at 20 ft. wide, consistent with detail C708 on Sheet C7 (also attached for your reference).
Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this modification request.
Thanks in advance,
Rob
Sincerely yours,
Robert A. Walker, El.
