I am opposed to the reclamation of any additional wetlands in the proposed Block T development in the Carolina
Lakes Community.
Carolina Lake is used extensively for boating and fishing. The shoreline is highly developed on 3 sides, leaving
only the Southern shore in a natural state. Because of the extent of development around the lake, very little area is
currently left for wetlands.
Wetlands act as a wildlife sanctuary, food source for various indigenous plants and animals, a fish spawning area,
and help filter and purify the water. With the proposed expansion in housing and higher use of the lake, we need to
assure that the remaining wetland areas are maintained around Carolina Lake. The loss of over 30,000 square
feet of wetlands could prove to be devastating to the present ecology of the lake.
I strongly recommend that you deny this request.
Respectfully yours,
~~ - ~~
