It is the understanding of the Raleigh Regional Office
that the unbleached kraft process conducted at the Roanoke
Rapids plant has little or no potential for Dioxin
contamination. The unbleached kraft process does not
involve the use of Chlorine and Chlorine Dioxide as the
bleaching method does. The potential for Dioxin emerges
from the bleaching of pulp.
