Subject:U-2579DEF permit sites 5 and 6
Good Afternoon,
On Friday afternoon, 0.97 inches of rain fell on the above-mentioned sites, from Y1-Y3. There was sediment loss to
jurisdictional streams in the amounts of 175 (5-gallon) buckets at Permit Site 5 and 100 (5-gallon) buckets at Permit Site
6. Erosion controls measures were installed at the time, but they, along with the slopes, failed. Per our conversation this
afternoon, since these jurisdictional streams will not be filled, NCDOT has been directed by NCDEQ-DWR, to clean up the
sediment. Efforts should be maintained to clean the sediment with the least amount of disturbance to the streambed.
Thanks,
Stephanie Braquet
