Subject:U-2579 DEF Sediment Loss and Channel Restorations
Stephanie and Phil,
Stream channel sediment loss cleanup/restoration work downstream of permit Sites 5, 6 and 8 we inspected yesterday
looked very good. Most all deposited sediment lost from the project site was retrieved with just a few minor areas that
needed to be addressed. The areas were communicated to staff and were to be addressed soon thereafter.
I agree that the slope drain discharging to the inlet at Site 8 needs to be removed or rerouted so that there is some
treatment prior to discharge to JS. And it appears from permit plans at Site 8 (below) that the entire wetland/JS area
surrounding the inlet will be impacted so any additional work that needs to be done in that area to control erosion
would be acceptable, as far as DWR is concerned, without a permit modification. We can take a look at it again next
week with the Corps.
Thanks for all the hard work and conscientious approach to your work ensuring erosion control measures are up to
speed including channel restoration work.
Dave W.
