Marc Recktenwald started the meeting and reviewed the meeting agenda. He stated that there will be some changes regarding members of the board, because of job changes of the members. DMS currently is talking with City of Charlotte and trying to find a replacement member. Marc also mentioned that DMS Blueprint project manager (PM), Michelle Ferree, has moved back to her old position with the State Parks. The PM position has been posted and will be open for two weeks; Marc asked the members to spread the news. 3. NIFMP Goals Marc stated DMS is seeking feedback for the goals developed at the goals workshop held in April. DMS asked the board members to submit their comments before next Friday (5/26/23). Some members indicated that they have not received the goals. Lin will ask Periann to send the goals to all members when she returns the office next week. Bill Holman said that he felt the goals were fine. He asked who would deliver the goals and turn those goals into actions, and how those goals would be accomplished by projects. He liked the current DMS private-public partnership model. Marc described current DMS procurement methods. Noah Persons mentioned that a lot of municipalities have stormwater master plans. Those plans will be very helpful tool/lead for implementing project. Marc stated that maintenance will continue to be a big issue for stormwater projects. DMS plans to set up workshops to get everyone together after the goals are finalized. 4. DMS Watershed Planning and Full Delivery Model Marc gave a presentation on DMS watershed planning and full delivery model. The presentation was emailed to all board members after the meeting. Legislation now requires flood resiliency to be incorporated into DMS watershed planning process. 5. Nature Base Solutions (NBS) Marc stated that the program needs to have a definition for NBS and asked the board members to examine the type of NBS table sent before the meeting. Marlena Byrne felt that NBS could be a board category and types of NBS can be a tool kit addressing flood reduction. 6. New Name Marc asked the board members to brainstorm new name for the program, and the deadline is set at the end of May.
