Hi officer Dan,
I want to include my comments in support of efforts to protect Umstead Park from a rock quarry. I am a
frequent user of the park as a runner/hiker. It provides accessible respite from the noise and concrete that is
everywhere increasing. Umstead is a kind a green oasis. I consider it a jewel in the Triangle's recreational space
Once it is lost, it cannot be regained.
I'm hopeful the powers -that -be can see the beauty of this landscape and the importance it holds as growth and
development transform our area and green space becomes so scarce. Please do not allow this area to be
devoured by an open pit.
