SEDIMENT FENCE USE:
WILL RETAIN SEDIMENT FROM SMALL DISTURBED AREAS.
SEDIMENT FENCE WILL BE PLACED ALONG SLOPES AS SHOWN
ON CONSTRUCTION DETAILS. REFER TO SECTION 6.62 OF THE
NCDENR EROSION AND SEDIMENT CONTROL PLANNING AND
DESIGN MANUAL.
SEDIMENT FENCE MAINTENANCE:
INSPECT SEDIMENT FENCES DAILY AND AFTER EACH RAINFALL.
MAKE ANY REQUIRED REPAIRS IMMEDIATELY. SHOULD THE
FABRIC OF A SEDIMENT FENCE COLLAPSE, TEAR, DECOMPOSE
OR BECOME INEFFECTIVE, REPLACE IT PROMPTLY. REMOVE
SEDIMENT DEPOSITS AS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE
STORAGE VOLUME FOR THE NEXT RAIN AND TO REDUCE
PRESSURE ON THE FENCE. TAKE CARE TO AVOID UNDERMINING
THE FENCE DURING CLEANOUT. REMOVE ALL FENCING
MATERIALS AND UNSTABLE SEDIMENT DEPOSITS AND BRING THE
AREA TO GRADE AND STABILIZE IT AFTER THE CONTRIBUTING
DRAINAGE AREA HAS BEEN PROPERLY STABILIZED.
NOTES:
1. USE SEDIMENT FENCE ONLY WHEN DRAINAGE AREA DOES
NOT EXCEED 1/4-ACRE AND NEVER IN AREAS OF
CONCENTRATED FLOW.
2. END OF SEDIMENT FENCE NEEDS TO BE TURNED UPHILL.
3. REMOVE SEDIMENT DEEPER THAN 12" AND REPAIR ANY
UNDERMINING IMMEDIATELY.
4. PLACE WIRE FENCE 6" BELOW GRADE AND SEDIMENT FABRK-

BACKFILL AND THOROUGHLY COMPACT TRENCH WITH
NCDOT #57 STONE. FOR REPAIRS, REPLACE STONE TO
GRADE AND COMPACT AS NEEDED.
5. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBILE FOR PLACEMENT AND
REMOVAL OF FENCE.
6. CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR RESTORING
DISTURBED AREAS TO PRE -CONSTRUCTION CONDITION.
