Subject: Modification Simpson Hocutt Mine, Permit # 16-82, ADI response
Dear Mr. Parr;
RECEIVED
AUG 2 2 2022
LAND QUALITY
MINING PROGRAM
On behalf of Noah Simpson, Thomas Simpson Constriction Company, Inc, I am writing in
response to your Augustl0, 2022 letter requesting additional information on the above -
referenced mining permit modification application. I will respond to each item in the order of
your letter for clarity.
1. A riprap lined channel will be installed between the outlet of the sediment basin and the
50 foot undisturbed wetland buffer to prevent erosion of the slope. The location of the channel
and a detail has been added to the mine map.
2. A 25 foot "undisturbed" buffer will be maintained between the mining limit and the permit
boundary. The exceptions to this are the placement of the riprap lined channel (see item 1) and
the perimeter berm along the southern side of the mine (see item 3)
3. The "undisturbed" buffer already contains vegetation that screens the operation on the
west side. Natural vegetation, distance, and topography screens the operation on the north and
east side. The south side of the mine is naturally screened by distance and vegetation,
however a perimeter berm will be established along the south end of the mine for further
screening.
4. A detail of the perimeter berm has been added to the mine map.
We trust that this information will allow you to complete your review of this modification
request. Please let me know if you need any additional information.
