Good morning Adam,
I just spoke with Anne about this, and it sounds like the meeting they had with the higher ups
just involved passing along some of the background info and a brief discussion about our
comments. I told Anne about the increased monitoring, and we both agree that that should
alleviate the discharge concerns mentioned in the comment memo (specifically, the impact on
SAV). With that in mind, DMF would be amenable to permit issuance, with the increased
monitoring included as a permit requirement. I'm not sure who receives the monitoring reports
(if any are submitted), but it would be helpful to have those passed along to DMF so that we
can maintain a record for our use.
This also brought up a discussion of DMF potentially conducting our own mine monitoring as
a side project for me, if one is close enough to my office and could have potential impacts. It
would mainly be for educational purposes, but the results could be used to develop our own
requirements in the future that include specific monitoring requirements, water quality levels,
etc. so that we've got something in writing to be used for future permits. That'll be something
we can discuss in more depth later, if a permit comes up that would be a good candidate for
that project.
Thanks Adam, and feel free to reach out if you've got any additional questions/concerns/etc.
Have a good weekend!
Jimmy

Subject: Foster Forbes Mine Monitoring
Jimmy,
This is to follow up on our phone call about the Foster Forbes Mine. The applicant has agreed to
more frequent monitoring than what is listed in the NPDES Stormwater permit. The Condition below
is what has been added to our permit.
"Any sampling required under the NPDES Stormwater permit will be performed as required in the
NPDES permit, or monthly, whichever is more frequent, and will be provided annually with the
Annual Reclamation Report."
I look forward to hearing back from you tomorrow.
Thanks,
