MINING PROGRAM
I am writing in response to Buechel Stone Co mining permit request. I object to this permit for many
reasons. This has been a major hardship for far too long because of all the safety issues and the
personal financial cost because of the mining. I have outstanding complaints filed with NCDEQ, listing
what has been happening here of which I have never had a reply. The first one was in 2020 the second
in 2021. 1 am enclosing a copy of the permit request and map also, the business cards of the people the
complaints were filed with. To make this short I will just be making some bullet point issues that have
been happening.
11) Rock Vein runs under my shop building which is right on the property line it also runs under -my
driveway and home. Every shot weakens this and makes cracks.
(2) Boundaries are too close to my house entrance, bridge and home.
(3) Erosion Issues
(4) Safety issues with fly rock and misuse of explosives. Already experienced multiple accidents
because of this. Fly Rock, vehicle damage, landscape and foundation damage, driveway cracks
break through springs into my driveway ditches.
(5) They are not 50' away from property lines and buildings.
(6) Drilled 87 holes 14' below river bed, only 77 went off shook my home like an earth quake and
threw large flyrock over 300'. On my house, into the highway and in my yard. I have witnesses.
Had to repaint my bridge at a cost of $2000.00 because fly rock beat the paint off of it. Other
issues yet to be resolved and no one has offered to make it right, to do so will be a court battle.
(7) My bridge sits facing that quarry, I am concerned about the concrete embunkments. Explosions
of that magnitude should never be allowed in a residential area.
(8) My property is devalued, they cost me money and hardship so I object to the permit
(9) 1 will be sending copies of this letter and permits to all people that have been involved in this
matter and have included two business cards of people that one has actually been here, toured
the site. The other has all the records on this matter.
I would like to be notified of what is taking place and will be keeping all my pictures, conversations
and notes for legal purposes.
Thank You,
ate
