RECEIVED
OTC J. t 2021
NC GEOLOGICAL SURVEY
Responding in regards to attached documentation. As the owner of the adjoining property living in the
home you see on the map included. This mine is in a residential area with children. Also, located close
to a main highway and water way that people use recreationally. This mine is too close to my house and
the vein of rock their after just happens to be the vein my home sits on. Currently there are two open
complaints against this mine filed with NCDEQ on this specific site. However this mine site has created
extensive cost to me in repair, damages and property devaluation. The last blast broke my retaining
wall loose from my home and cracked two other places in the wall, from top to bottom. Still not
repaired. Fly rock has been a tremendous problem, huge rocks being thrown much farther than three
hundred feet. Sometimes when they blast it's like an earth quake and that's not an exaggeration. There
needs to be a complete investigation with measurements and a geologist sent out before issuing this
permit. You can check my complaint with NCDEQ of Asheville office. They sent a person out and they got
all information on this case. Initially, property owners were never notified when the mine first opened.
Thank You,
Ruth Queen/ Adjacentt property owner
