Q Z ned: RA MINE DISCUSSION
o
The Scotland Pit mine consists of 371 acres and up to 31 acres can be exposed or disturbed at any
given time. The proposed mine modification will include increasing the maximum disturbance to
/ 84.0 acres with a 30 year life of mine.
1 ;
Stormwater runoff collects in the active mine area to include the majority of the runoff from the
plant area. About 1.1 acres along Sneads Grove Road where the office/scale is located drains
1 toward the road and offsite of the mine property. Mining in the proposed new area will proceed
t ° from the existing active mine ;area. The disturbed ground will be sloped so the runoff will drain to
the active mine area.
1 Portions of the existing mine have been excavated below the ground water table. Eventually all
t of the min area will be excavated below the water table.
I
I The excavated sand is proceaed through a power screen with the use of water. The process water
II
1 \ / is recirculated through a pond.
{t
I % Upon completion of the mining, an approximately 56.5 acre lake will be formed. Exposed ground
t above the water table will be '1:1 (H:V) or flatter. All haul roads except at the entrance/exist drive
1 to Sneads Grove Road will be reclaimed. The office trailer and power screen will be removed.

VEGETATION PLAN
1. Spread topsoil over disturbed areas and leave surface reasonably
smooth and uniform.
2. Scarify surface to prepare a seedbed four to six inches deep. Use
such eqquipment as tilling, discing, tracing or the teeth on a front
endloa%r.
3. Mix lime and fertilizer with the soil during seedbed preparation.

spraying with emulsified asphalt. Use an anchoring tool such as a
farming disc set in a vertical position on slopes less than 3:1.
Mulch netting may also be used on slopes.
7. Inspect seeded areas and make repairs within the planting
season. If vegetation is over 60% damaged, repeat steps 2 through
8. Permanent revegetation shall be accomplished at the specified
times of the year. Temporary vegetative shall be applied outside of
the optimal times for establishment of permanent vegetation.
