Submitted are two (2) copies of the revised plans and specifications, the corrected page 2
of the application, and stream and wetland delineation maps by Brown's Environmental
Group for the above referenced project. The revisions were made based on the l' review
comments sent in a letter dated January 26, 2022, from NCDEQ-DEMLR. The following
are responses to the review comments.
1. Please clarify the note on the mine map that states 7.3 acres of previously reclaimed
area. If this is an active area of the mine it should not be labeled as previously
reclaimed.
This area was reclaimed in approximately 2015, but has been re -disturbed. The
Previously Reclaimed Label has been removed from the maps.
2. Please clarify how mining will proceed below the water table without dewatering.
Excavation will first extend to slightly above the groundwater table. Subsequent
excavation will then be below the groundwater table. This information is added to
Sheet C-1 under the Land Disturbance Sequence.
3. Please include the name of the applicant/permittee on the mine map.
The applicant/permittee is added to both Sheets C-1 and C-2.
4. Please include the name of the county on the mine map.,
Scotland County has been added to the Title Block on Sheets C-1 and C-2.

S. There appears to be an error on the application form where the modification outside
checkbox on page 2 is checked for both yes and no. Please verify that this modification is
for acreage inside the previously permitted area only.

6. Please provide a wetland determination by a qualified wetland consultant to verify the
extent of the wetlands on the property. NWI maps are only an indicator of the possible
presence of wetlands.
Submitted are the maps by Brown's Environmental Group, Inc. Showing the
stream, wetland and pond delineation. This delineation is also reflected on Sheets
C-1 and C-2.
