MINE DISCUSSION
The Scotland Pit mine consists of 371 acres and up to 31 acres can be exposed or disturbed at any
given time. The proposed mine modification will include increasing the maximum disturbance to
84.0 acres with a 30 year life of mine.
Stormwater runoff collects in the active mine area to include the majority of the runoff from the
plant area. About 1.1 acres along Sneads Grove Road where the office/scale is located drains
toward the road and offsite of the mine property. Mining in the proposed new area will proceed
from the existing active mine area. The disturbed ground will be sloped so the runoff will drain to
the active mine area.
Portions of the existing mine have been excavated below the ground water table. Eventually all
Jof the min area will be excavated below the water table.
/ The excavated sand is processed through a power screen with the use of water. The process water
is recirculated through a pond.
Upon completion of the mining, an approximately 56.5 acre lake will be formed. Exposed ground
above the water table will be 3:1 (H:V) or flatter. All haul roads except at the entrance/exist drive
to Sneads Grove Road will be reclaimed. The office trailer and power screen will be removed.

Reclamation Considerations
1. Maintain unexcavated buffer of at least 25 ft. distance
from the property lines. At least 10 ft of the buffer shall
have the existing vegatation remain -in -place. A 50 ft.
unexcavated buffer will be provide along Sneads Grove Road,
and a 50 ft. buffer will be provided from any wetland.
2. All excavation slopes above the surface water shall
be at least 3:1 (H:V) or flatter.
3. Grade mine floor for sheet water flow towards the lake.
4. Haul roads shall be graded flush with the surrounding ground
and re -vegetated. However, the entrance drive connecting to
Sneads Grove Road will remain.
5. Remove scales, office trailer, and power screen
from site.
6. Revegitate per the existing mine permit requirements.
