RE: Barnhill Contracting - Whatchamacallit Mine: Permit #09-12
Bladen County
Lumber River Basin
Dear Adam:
In response to your letter of July 28, 2021 regarding the above referenced project we provide the
following information:
Comment:
• Please identify and label on the mine map all wetlands. The National Wetlands Inventory
shows wetlands west of the site.
Response:
• Information from the National Wetlands Inventory has been added to the plan sheets (see
attached revised drawings). As you can see, the wetland boundaries are to the west of
the property and are not impacted by this project. No field delineation has been
conducted as this was not an issue when the mine was originally permitted nor in any of
the subsequent permit renewals.
Comment:
• Please clarify the acreage of the permit modification. There are inconsistencies between
pg. 1 of the application and the table of pg. 5 as well as the mine maps. Please provide an
acreage table showing current acreage conditions, proposed additions/changes and total
proposed.
Response:
• We see no information on page 1 of the application regarding acreage. We assume you
are referring to page 2 of the application under item A.1 which asks for "the total
(overall) acreage covered by the existing permit." This had indicated the previously
permitted pit acreage. It has been revised to reflect the total affected acreage in the
existing permit of 24.5 acres.
• The table on the drawings has been revised to reflect acreages under the current permit,
proposed additions and total proposed.
