We strongly object to the proposed Hood Creek Soils Mining Operation for the following reasons: 1) This project is solely for the benefit of one property owner, at the expense of hundreds of other property owners in the area, including us. 2) The idea that this project could create jobs is a pathetic joke. The only one who will benefit is the property owner who is asking you to rezone his property. 3) We also own a house in the RTP area of Umstead State Park. The mining operation that is being pushed through there is a disaster for wildlife, home values, air quality, and everything else good. This Hood Creek Soils project is even far worse. There is no value whatsoever to the community. THIS IS A SCHEME TO MAKE MONEY SOLELY FOR THE BENEFIT OF 1 PROPERTY OWNER AT THE EXPENSE OF THE ENTIRE COMMUNITY. 4) If this project is approved the following will result: a) extensive increase in noise in the surrounding area for miles. b) extensive harm to hundreds of home/property values in the surrounding area for miles c) extensive increase in air pollution d) extensive increase in water pollution e), extensive harm to wildlife. HAS THIS HOMEOWNER SUBMITTED AN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT PLAN THAT IS OF QUALITY FROM A THIRD PARTY. WE ASSUME NOT. Caldwell County and Lenior should protect the property values of everyone in the community. HOW THIS PROPOSAL HAS EVEN GOTTEN THIS FAR IS ALARMING. Again, we strongly object to this selfish and self-centered proposal that will only benefit one home owner at the expensive of hundreds of people who live in the area.
