Subject: [External] [Mining Permit 92-10] Protect the Old Reedy Creek Recreational Corridor
My inaime is Richard Tairqullinl!, l(hive at 105 Cairrnell Ct lin Cary NO. l urge the
DEQ to deny the Wake Stone's request to expand their Tidainglle Quarry.
It should Ibe denied due to G.S. '74 51 (d)(5) it wHH Ihave a siginllficaintly
adverse effect on the Ipuirposes of a publicly owned Ipairk, forest or
recreation area. This expanded quarry wHH Ihave a siginllficaint adverse
mpact on Uimstead Park and the East Coast Gireenway. This expansion
wound (place Wake Stone's quarry imuch closer to Uimstead State Park and
affect a much larger Ipoirtion of the Ipairk. It wound also imove the quarry inext
to the East Coast Gireenway, which iruns aIloing Old Reedy Greek Road.
This is a very Ipopullair bilking and waflking area which connects IL.alke
Crabtree Park to Uimstead Park, and also connects the Cary Gireenway
system to the Raleigh gireenway system. The Nasting, air Ipolllution, and
inoise of a quarry wound Ihave a siginllficaint negative impact.
It should also Ibe denied due to G.S. '74 51 (d)(4) it wound Ibe a direct and
substainfiall Iplhysicall Ihazaird to a ineighboiring dw6HlIing house. The Dunin
residence is o6ly 200 feet from the (proposed quarry pit. Wake Stone and
their consuftaints Ihave stated that their blasting wiH inot daimage a IbulH61ng
1
as dose as 500 feet away, Ibut they Ihave inot and cain inot dallim that t1h6lir
Nasting WEI inot damage the Dunin's Ihouse 200 feet away.
1I uirge you to deny tlNis expansion.
