Adam;
Here is what I found. The original permitted area (pre-2020) was 235.47. This
number was originated by an engineer / surveyor working on the project (now
deceased). According to GIS and deed records, the original tract involved in the
original permit has a total of 240.71 acres. However, there are approximately 10
acres across the highway that are not included in the permitted area. So, the original
permit should have been 230 acres. The property added in 2020 was 50 acres (by
deed and GIS), bringing the correct total to 280 acres.
There were a few odd circumstances during the original permitting that led to the
confusion. As stated above, there was an engineer / surveyor that originally drew up
the mine plan that actually died during the project. I was asked to come in and finish
his work, so the numbers may have been off as part of this issue. Later, American
Materials provided me with some of their plans that had yet a different acreage.
During the last modification in 2020, Judy pointed out the difference in numbers, but
at the same time I had just suffered a heart attack and had a death in my family. So,
rather than further investigate at that time, I just accepted her number for the purpose
of expediency.
Upon further examination of the maps, the GIS data, and actual deeds, I can state
with confidence that the total permitted acreage at this time is 280 acres.

James,
It seems as if there was a question on the acreage on the last modification in 2020. The permit was
issued at 290 permitted acres, rather than the 285.74, you identified in your email.
Will you please verify the permitted acres? If it is in fact 285.74, will you please correct the acreage table
on page 4 of the application and the acreage table on the mine map?
Thanks,

Adam;
Any comments on the modification application submitted last month for American
Materials Dupree Pit, 74-90?
