Subject: [External] [Mining Permit 92-10] Deny a new rock quarry permit - protect the public
Dear DEC. , Pllease deny Welke Stone Coup"s application for a anew rock
mine. The (proposed quarry will Ihave negative impacts on Umstead State
Park, Crabtree Greek, the East Coast Gireenway, recreation In the Old
Reedy Greek Corridor and adjacent Ihorneowneirs.
II Ihave been a user of the Old Reedy Creek road entrance to Uimstead for
decades. The gateway to the (park should snot be turned Into a (loud, inoisy,
truck choked, dust (laden, Ihazairdous liindustrl41 (park.
Pllease restore the Sunset Clause to the current Welke Stone quarry
Note that recreation areas gireenways should Ihave a 2 s0ft undisturbed
buffer (olld Reedy Greek Road) to irnaliintaliin the gireenway experience with
inoo Iberrns or walls within that (buffer zone.
A anew quarry at Odd Fellllows Tract wound sever the one (known wildlife
corridor connecting Raleigh to the crest of the Eastern VVHdway that iruns
from Canada to Roir9ida.
