My name is Alex Nordin and I have lived in Cary my whole life. I was unable to speak during the daytime hearing held by
the DEQ. I am urging you to deny the permit for Wake Stone to operate a second quarry next to Umstead Park, based on
the subsection 5, That the operation will have an adverse effect on a publicly owned park, forest AND recreation area.
This is a blatant and transparent instance of political negligence and/or corruption, all for the sake of "jobs". All this in
the second most attractive area for business in the entire Southeast, where a huge part of what attracts talent (and
makes this a desirable place for large companies to headquarter) is our livability and green space.
I want to reiterate that there is no perspective from which the proposed second quarry would not obviously violate
subsection 5, and as such it is your duty to deny the permit.
Thank you.
Alex Nordin
