The pandemic will pass, we will be riding our bikes, jogging, walking, taking our kids and families to enjoy the beautiful Umstead and Crabtree parks. The construction of the new quarry would definitely have an impact in peoples ability to enjoy nature when we need it most. Deforestation and destruction of a beautiful natural area for more development and commercial gains, no matter what those are, are making the Triangle look and feel more and more like a concrete jungle, with fewer places to escape. Contamination and noise pollution would be very detrimental for the wildlife and visitors of the parks. I own land in another part of the world, and I am bound by law, as well as by my own moral principles, to maintain natural corridors intact for wildlife. Don’t do the Triangle, its people and the environment a huge disservice by building this quarry and reconsider the offer made by the Conservation Fund.
