Rowan County
Mine Permit Modification
Dear Mr. Miller;
The Carolina Stalite Company Limited Partnership is requesting a mine permit modification to
construct screening berms that will act as material storage areas within the permitted mine permit
area. The general location of the berms were shown on previous mine maps.
The disturbed area associated with the construction of erosion control measures and screening
berms will be approximately 22.8 acres. The overall changes to the mine map, encompass 31.6
acres. The following changes were made to the mine map,
• The aerial topography mapping was updated.
• Two screening berms/material storage areas were added to the western side of the plant,
adjacent to Old Beatty Ford Road. The changes also include skimmer basins, drainage
features, and erosion control measures.
• The names of adjacent property owners, based on county GIS data, were updated.
• The labels for the plant processes (stockpiles, equipment storage, process areas, settling
ponds, etc.) were updated to match the current mapping.
• The Affected Acreage Category table was updated based on the new aerial topography
• A sheet showing the proposed material placement phasing and construction sequence was
added to the plan set.
• Construction details for the proposed erosion control measures and drainage structures
were added.
• The reclamation map was updated to show the proposed material storage area and update
the reclamation of the plant area.
