Subject: Waycaster Stone Co. Inc., Mining Permit Application
To Whom it May Concern,
The above referenced mining permit application raises the following concerns:
• Threat to Private Drinking Water
• Applicant's historical indifference for safety of nearby Residential Properties
• Environmental Impacts to groundwater
The proposed mine threatens the natural spring that is our private drinking water source.
Several springs, which have been in use for more than fifty-five years and used by
multiple families in the community, are approximately ninety feet from the proposed
mine's property lines. There is no public or city water supply to the area supplied by these
springs. If these springs are contaminated by sediment caused by the mining operation the
residents of the community have no clean drinking water.
The mining operation in question has shown a history of no regard for the adjoining
residential properties with a blatant disregard to the adjoining property lines. The
mentioned site has a history of fly rock, which is of great concern since the site's
boundaries are within 100 feet of residential properties.
The previous activity of unpermitted mining has a historical lack of sediment control.
Unrestrained sedimentation has occurred within 300 feet of domestic water sources,
which is of a great concern to the residents of the community.
Please take into consideration all of the above concerns prior to granting the applicant,
Waycaster Stone Co Inc, a mining permit.
Sincerely.
