Matthew Wilson 100 Mistletoe Drive Marion, NC 28752 September 9, 2021 Land Quality Section Division of Land Resources NCDENR 1612 Mail Service Center Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1612 Subject: Mining Permit Application To Whom it May Concern, The mining permit application for Waycaster Mining Co, Inc is concerning because my family and neighbors use one of the springs on the property joining the lot where Mr. Waycaster wants to mine. Most of the families who use the springs need a good water supply for not only their home but, for their gardens as well. We raise much of our own food and put it away for the winter. There is not a public water system in our area. If the spring is contaminated or the vein pinched off, it will be catastrophic. I have attached a photo of the area. The lots with a yellow dot receive their water from the springs. The blue dot represents where the springs are located. I am asking that you deeply consider these issues before the permit is issued. Sincerely, Matthew Wilson
