Re: Ararat Rock Company request dated 4/8/2021
Adam Parr, Assistant State Mining Engineer
Division of Energy, Minerals and Land Resources
Department of Environmental Quality
1612 Mail Service Center
Raleigh, NC 27699-1612
Dear Mr. Parr,
Having recently received a Notice for the modification of an existing mining permit by the
Ararat Rock Company of Mt Airy, NC, I am concerned that the increased footprint of the mining
activities adjacent to my land in Surry County will be damaging to my property value and my
future desire to build on this land. I am aware of other residents complaints and concerns over
noise and vibration during blasting. Thus I would be interested in your findings related to these
topics as well as the air and water quality surrounding this site.
Please consider this letter as my formal request for a public hearing concerning these matters
and others by an impartial group of experts in these fields. I look forward to information around
the date of this hearing whether virtual or in person and a site where the discussion can be
viewed. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
