Dear Mr. Parr:
Having received Notice for the modification of the existing mining permit of Ararat
Rock Products Company, Mount Airy, NC, and the accompanying map of proposed new
mining areas, I am concerned that increased mining activities may be detrimental to us
and other nearby residents/property owners. Specifically, we desire to learn more about
the potential consequences to air and water quality, noise and vibration pollution, and
the reclamation of previously mined grounds.
Therefore, please consider this letter as our request for a public hearing in this
matter so that information from sources other than the mine operator and it's agents can
be heard. Thank you for your consideration.
