Geology of the Danny Smith Landscaping & Drainage — Alphin Pit in Lenoir County is the Cretaceous
(K) and in the Black Creek Formation (Kb). Clay, gray to black, lignitic (containing some low-grade
coal). Formation contains thin beds and laminae of fine-grained micaceous sand and thick lenses of
