Subject: [External] [Mining Permit 92-10] Stop the trucks, noise, dust - allow the public to fully
enjoy Umstead State Park
Michaell Regain, Secretary DEQ,
l aim agallinst aIHowiing Wake Stone to expaind operations adjacent to Uimstead Park (because
this expansion willll Ipoteintialllly violate these two clauses of state (law:
1. That the operation willll Ihave uindWy adverse effects oin potable groundwater supplies,
wildlife, or fresh water, estuair9line, or mairline fisheiries;
2. That the operation willll Ihave a siginllficaintly adverse effect oin the Ipuirposes of a Ipulbllicly
owined Ipairk, forest or recreation area;
Also, the RIDU Airport Auth<y was offered a fair deal to conserve that (property Iby the
Conservation Fund and they shoWd reconsider that offer llin light of the public Ibeinefits it wound
There is (precious little uindevelloped gireein space (left llin the Tiriainglle area; it shoWd Ibe
treasured and protected iratlheir thain destroyed, (because make ino mistake, Wake Stone isin't
using Ipulbllic Ilaind, they're girllin6ing it up and trucking it away.
In summary, this Iletteir shoWd serve as inotice of my opposition agallinst the quarry, and please
send a message to the DEQ making your opposition agallinst the quarry known, as well.
Best,
Josh
