(828-758-5749) 2:37 pm 8/26/2021 - Kiersten Raynor live not too far from proposed site, have bad asthma and husband, and concerned about dust and pollutants. Not happy. The neighbors live off wells, and there is too much industrial waste in pollution in the state as is. There is already a dump in the area which is concerning. The county wants to encourage development. They are building upscale homes and this type of thing can ruin it. People will not want to live know there is a mining operation less than a mile away. The county needs the development and revenue that the upscale community brings to the area and a mine will not allow. (239) 292-9912 Spoken Public Comments- HEARING Hearing Started at 7:00 pm Speaker 1 - Mark Parsons First thing to say I am resident 5t" generation landowner on Bryant Road and parents live here. I have kids and spend a lot of time outside. Fist comment is strongly opposed, horrible idea, state only goes by facts and wat would happen if it was in your back yard. On Bryant Road, no county water everyone uses a well. A new well is 15 to 20k if there is an issue with blasting. Will Hoffman be on the hook. These guys have been doing work already and has made a mess of the road already. How will they manager if they get a permit. Mine is a horrible idea. Land fill is 2 miles away, truck traffic is already bad. The roads are small, and the infrastructure is not in place to handle heavy trucks. Needs to be taken into consideration. Risk assessment, high risk low reward. No one wants blasting. Horrible ideal. Please reconsider. Speaker 2 - Kristie Parsons I'm Marks wife, lived here over 20 years. This mine is a horrible idea for community. You all are not aware of the area, it is not an affluent area, it is impoverished. We already deal with a land fille 2 miles away from where he wants to blast. How much else are we supposed to deal with it. I'm not ok we have kids that go outside and play, the blasting noise, traffic, structural damage to home. You should consider it and you would consider it if it was your house. There is a house 300 feet from where he wants to blast. It brings nothing to the community. Hoffman lives in Statesville. There are creeks in the area, and everyone is on wells. How is blasting not going to affect well water. It will affect air and soil quality. It is going to be a mess it is not a benefit to the county. Hoffman has already been on site blocking the roadway. He has heavy machinery in the road and there is dirt and mud in the road. The area is already impoverished. This is not going to bring jobs. It is going to affect air water and soil quality. It will decrease property value. It is impoverished and it will be the area down more. They have not abided by the mining act so far and will not in the future Joyce McCormick —Speaker 5 Resident for 42 years love but does not live nearby. Any soil and rock is very close to Lenoir and close to housing area. The access via the is poor. All roads are narrow 2 land roads. The heavy trucks will endanger people. Greasy creek and hood creeks which ends up supplying water to Caldwell County. Loss of forest and vegetation, wildlife habitat, noise dust. Ronny Hendrix — Speaker 6 I work in wastewater, most of water around in creeks is impaired and non -function. Having another mine will cause groundwater issues. Mining is not going to help. People live right beside are. People will have to move from houses when they go to blast. Father-in-law lives on Bryant Road and are against it. They don't have internet. And the hearing was held too soon. Everyone is against it. Caldwell deals with CIS on? mountain. It is a supersite. We feel like a dumping ground. Landfill is for all other counties not just Caldwell. Landfill itself has dust coming off of it. Someone should check in on it. It will destroy house or lively hood trying to live next to the site. Let's give the area a break not more stress. Sedimentation x3 that is the issue with surface water. There is an erosion problem. Digging a big hole in the side of a mountain will cause more issues. And most of frontage. City land use zoned rural residential it would not be eligible to be up zoned in ETJ. Provided map. Plans show encroachment on ETJ. If permit is approved by state, they have to go to county and city for zoning. I'd like to see ETJ as vegetative buffer. They need to show zoning on mine map.
