As was noted in the response from NCWRC, though, there is concern regarding the lack of specifications in the application documents. For example, the section that is intended to include a description of the development and operation of the mine does not provide any description of mining operations. There is no clear indication regarding what will be done with the mined material once it is removed (i.e. placed in a stockpile area, immediately loaded onto trucks and removed from the site, etc.). Without details of this nature, DMF is unable to provide an accurate, detailed response. However, as noted above, there is minimal concerned based on the what was provided, and because there is not sensitive habitat within close proximity to the mine site. There is Primary Nursery Area (PNA) designated within the Newport River; however, the boundary for this designation is far enough from the project site to not be affected by the mining operations. If there are any follow-up questions/comments/concerns, feel free to reach out. Thanks Adam!
