Ladies and Gentlemen:
Please see the attachment and the comments made by our appointed City of Raleigh RDUAA
member.
This is what I've been saying along as to the mentality, thinking and abuse of power that individuals
such
as Mr. Thompson as shown over the years.
It appears to me that Mr. Thompson has lost is Moral COMPASS and is time for him to devote is time
and energy
to other areas.
Thanks Woody

The Raleigh Durham Airport Authority (RDUAA) regular monthly meeting
The Raleigh Durham Airport Authority (RDUAA) regular monthly meeting was held
last week, on Thursday, March 18, 2021. This meeting was the first attended by
the two new board members recently appointed by Durham City. Towards the
end of the meeting, as normally happens, each board member is given an
opportunity to make comments. On this day, Dickie Thompson, who was
appointed to the RDUAA by the City of Raleigh, said the following:
"It's a great deal of responsibility [to be on the RDUAA] and the decisions we
make in our Board meetings and our Committee meetings affect a great number
of people that come through our area every day. And, you know our forefathers
were very wise, I think, when they set up the Charter for the Raleigh -Durham
Airport, in the fact that we have four owners and two representatives from each
owner. Each member is appointed by elected officials. BUT, once you become a
member of the RDU Board, you no longer represent that individual body that ...
appointed you to it. You now represent the RDU Authority. And, the decisions
that you make, are made on the best interest of the airport itself... I urge you to,
in making decisions for RDU, put RDU first in making these decisions and not
base your decisions on the number of emails that you receive from individuals
or people that are in special interest groups, or even elected officials...."
To me, he is saying that RDU does not have to consider the concerns or needs of
its owners or neighbors and RDU does not have to consider the consequences of
their actions on the owner or neighbors.... if it is good for RDU, then go for it.
On a good note, comments made by several of the other RDUAA members
indicated the opposite of Mr. Thompson's comment.
