I have not received a permit application to date. It is very close to Jones County's new wells in the shallower aquifer. These wells were brought on due to the water withdrawal reductions Jones County was mandated to take from their Cretaceous wells. The mine will need to provide a hydrogeologic analysis by a licensed geologist/engineer to show the impacts the dewatering will have on the area (cone of depression and salinity impacts). If you have to issue the mine permit, I would not allow any dewatering until the CCPCUA water withdrawal permit is obtained. There were concerns with the dewatering impacting private wells as well as the new Jones County Water Treatment Plant which is being constructed roughly .5 miles from the location. There are 2 wells of the WTP in particular that were a concern to one of the engineers on the project. I have asked him to provide the location of those wells so that we can reference them with regard to the mine. What additional information if any do you need to determine if dewatering at the mine will impact ground water? We can request a groundwater study is complete if necessary, but I wanted your input before I ask for other information on ground water.
