The site is located along NC Hwy 211, southeast of the intersection of NC 211 and Ripley Dr., and northeast of the intersection of NC 211 and St. James Dr. The project drains to Beaverdam Creek (SC;Sw,HQW) across NC 211. During excavation, the material will most likely be below the water table and dewatering may occur. The estimated withdrawal rate in gallons per day will be 480,000 GPD based on a 1,000 GPM Pump running 8 hrs a day. There are no private residences within 500-ft of the proposed excavation, however, there are a number of Brunswick County public water supply wells.. Conversations with wetland consultants, LMG, have indicated that any dewatermg occurring with the small surficial pumps as proposed will have negligible affect on groundwater levels in this area. The Brunswick County Wellhead Protection Areas indicate the cone of influences for the wells. Well #1 yields 250 GPM at a depth of 175' per the State Source Water Assessment Report in 2017. Well #12 yields 440 GPM at a depth of 96' and #12a yields 950 GPM at a depth of 114. The water will not be released offsite therefore no special stormwater settling or best management practices are proposed at this time. If plans changed, a modification request will be made to the NPDES Stormwater Permitting Unit.
