I am concerned about the permit applied for by Morton Trucking, I.I.C. The following is a complaint filed
on land fill In Jacksonville:
NCAC 13B .0566 (7) states "Provisions for a ground cover sufficient to restrain erosion must be
accomplished within 30 working days or 120 calendar days upon completion of any phase of landfill
development."
UNRESOLVED OBSERVED VIOLATIONS:6)15A NCAC 13B .0566 (1) states "Operational plans
shall be approved and followed as specified for the facility."7)15A NCAC 13B .0566 (6) states
"Adequate erosion control measures, structures, or devices shall be utilized to prevent silt from leaving
the site and to prevent excessive on site erosion."8)15A NCAC 13B .0566 (7) states "Provisions for a
ground cover sufficient to restrain erosion must be accomplished within 30 working days or 120 calendar
days upon completion of any phase of landfill development" This complaint is reflective of my concern
with the surface mining planned that is part of the mine application with the erosion run off to Scott Creek
and eventually to the Trent River.
Second concern is that what is stopping Morton after they are finished doing the surface mining turning
the mine into a garbage pit? The attraction of rodents etc. would not be good for the ($500,000 to
$1,000,000)residences next to the surface mining.
What is the plans for a public meeting in the near future before a permit is considered?
Sincerely,
N/ ' / 4 4te-e7
