DANIEL SMITH Director MEMORANDUM NORTH CAROLINA Environmental Quality January 28, 2021 TO: Mr. Adam Parr NCDEMLR-Land Quality Section FROM: Gabrielle Chianese Ground Water Management Branch Division of Water Resources SUBJECT: Comments on the Mining Permit Request for: Tim Morton Trucking, LLC Scott Farm Road Mine Jones County Please find attached a copy of the mining permit request for the above referenced project. The Scott Farm Rd Mine located in Jones County may have an unduly adverse effect on ground water supplies. This mine will need to obtain a CCPCUA permit if the mine is withdrawing 100,000gpd of water. If the mine is withdrawing 10,000 gpd to 100,000 gpd of water, they will need to rem their water withdrawals. I have attached the CCPCUA permit application form and water use registration form for the permit applicant to complete. Please submit the application form or registration form (whichever is applicable) as soon as possible. A Central Coastal Plain Capacity Use Area (CCPCUA) water withdrawal permit must be obtained from the Division of Water Resources if the withdrawal exceeds 100,000 gallons per day and occurs in Beaufort, Carteret, Craven, Duplin, Edgecombe, Greene, Jones, Lenoir, Martin, Onslow, Pamlico, Pitt, Washington, Wayne, or Wilson County.
