Michael Regan, Secretary DEQ,
As a weekly user of Cary's Crabtree park and Umstead State park, I will tell you with 100
percent certainty that if the permit for mining is granted for RDU, these parks will be
negatively impacted. The stretch of RDU that borders Umstead will be horribly scarred by the
fencing that has been proposed and the air and sound quality will be impacted by the
explosions and heavy equipment needed for this operation. This will carry to the Crabtree
park
As well. Please deny this mining permit! It is not appropriate for this area.
