The mine is owned and operated by Buechel Stone Corporation(BSC). Arcadis US, Inc. (Arcadis) is submitting this application and supporting materials on behalf of BSC. The application is a modification to the existing mine permit, approved on April 28, 2023 by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality(NCDEQ). The modification to the above referenced permit involves the addition of a section of access road within the existing permit. Pursuant to your July 15, 2024 email, modifications internal to the permit boundary where no new lands are added to the permit do not need to be noticed to adjoining landowners. Notice is only required for new applications and modifications adding land. Furthermore, only new information needs to be resubmitted with the application. As you indicated in your email, NDEQ will calculate the updated bond requirement for reclamation areas.
