Dear Ms. Jonas:
MINING PROGRAM
I am writing to you on behalf of Bobby J. Tripp, president of Tripp Bros., Inc., Ayden, NC, in response to your
letter of September 20, 2024, requesting further information on his mining permit application for the Alvin
Road Mine in Grimesland, Pitt County, NC. Additional or revised information is provided as follows:
1. Impacts on stream #PC24-013-Excavation plan has been revised by the operator for this site, with
stream #PC24-013 remaining as is for the foreseeable future and jurisdictional per USACE rules.
Revised mine map is enclosed with this letter. Operator will apply for permit modification later that
will include approved permit from USACE for re-routing of stream #PC24-013 to location outside of
excavation area.
2. Sediment pond outfall-Riprap-lined sediment pond outfall #SDO-1 has been relocated outside of
blue-line stream #PC24-012 and inside the riparian buffer. Revised mine map is enclosed.
3. Sedimentation during mining through stream #24-013 - Excavation plan for this site has been revised
by the operator for this site, with stream #PC24-013 remaining as is for the foreseeable future and
jurisdictional per USACE rules. Revised mine map is enclosed with this letter. No mining activity
through stream PC24-013 will occur at this time.
4. Site processing-Processing areas indicated on original mine map were for designated general
processing of materials only, such as movement of excavated materials between stockpiles, vehicle
loading areas, material separation, or equipment parking. There will be no specific material
processing, such as material washing, on the premises. Mining map has been revised.
5. Construction entrance- Original plan was for the 200-ft long paved entrance to serve as a
construction entrance. Operator will add a 30-ft x 35-ft gravel pad to the landward end of the paved
entrance to serve as a temporary construction entrance, shown on the enclosed revised mining map.
6. Along with the revised mining map, enclosed are mining permit application documents reflecting
revised acreages, which are intended to replace pages previously submitted.
Thank you, please let me know if you have questions

E.DETERMINATION OF AFFECTED ACREAGE AND BOND
The following bond calculation worksheet is to be used to establish an appropriate bond(based upon a range of$500 to$5,000
per affected acre)for each permitted mine site based upon the acreage approved by the Department to be affected during the
life of the mining permit. Please insert the approximate acreage for each aspect of the mining operation that you intend to affect
during the life of this mining permit(in addition please insert the appropriate reclamation cosUacre for each category from the
Schedule of Reclamation Costs provided with this application form)OR you can defer to the Department to calculate your bond
for you based upon your maps and standard reclamation costs:
CATEGORY AFFECTED RECLAMATION RECLAMATION
