Subject: Sewer Availability—Albemarle Lithium Mine—Kings Mountain
The proposed Albemarle lithium mine in Kings Mountain is within the utility service area of the
city of Kings Mountain. Wastewater from the proposed site could be treated at the Pilot Creek
Wastewater Treatment Facility(NPDES #NC0020737). The Pilot Creek WTF has a permitted
capacity of 6.0 MGD. The current Average Daily Flow to the WTF is 1.47 MGD, and an
additional 1.76 MGD has been allocated to pending development, leaving 2.77 MGD of
available capacity.
The proposed discharge will require an industrial pretreatment permit. We anticipate the
following permit limits:

The route to serve the site with sewer has not been determined at this time. Once the route has
been determined, the existing sewer system beyond the proposed connection point will be
evaluated to determine if any additional improvements are required to accommodate the flows
from the site. Albemarle may be required to participate in any such improvements.
