F&R Development Mine

A routine mine inspection was conducted on March 2, 2023, at the F&R Development Mine in Brunswick
County.This inspection and previous inspections revealed that the mine has been inactive, has suitable
slopes and groundcover for reclamation; therefore, is ready to be released. No release request form was
submitted by the permit holder, so a release request form was sent to all operator addresses listed on
the file and state secretary website. No response was received, and during the inspection the current
landowner said when he bought the land,the mine/land had previously switched hands several times
before he acquired it. The mine file was never updated according to these sales, so no contact can be
made with the original operators.
