Dear Ms. Jordan:
Our office has completed its review of Jordan Land Development,Inc.'s blasting information,including the Notice
of Violation response sent in regard to the April 26, 2021 blast conducted at the West Jefferson Quarry. The
remediation measures outlined in the investigation report have been found to satisfactorily meet the corrective
actions required by this office. Primarily,the remediation measures are as follows:
• Seismograph readings will be reviewed immediately by Jordan Land Development, Inc.
management, and the NC Department of Environment and Natural Resources will be contacted if
excessive peak velocity is noted.
• The seismograph will be placed in the proper location and secured with sandbags due to site
conditions.
In order to ensure accurate seismograph readings in the future, the above remedial measures should be considered
part of the blasting procedures used at this facility. In the future, please carefully review the records of each blast
and ensure that all blast monitoring equipment is secured in order to provide proper readings. I appreciate your
company's prompt investigation of this matter upon receipt of our Notice of Violation dated May 6,2021.
Blasting operations may resume at the above-mentioned site. Please provide this office with complete records
for each blast performed at this mine site after the April 26, 2021 blast for the next four blasts, or all blasts
conducted in the next six months,whichever occurs later.
